I see it all the time. Most people aren't doing anything wrong when it comes to tox and filler. They're just approaching treatments without a clear plan.
I'm Amy Hawkins, FNP-C, the injector behind 29 Aesthetics in Bluffdale, Utah. Here's why one-off appointments hold your results back, and how a long-term treatment plan changes everything.
It usually goes something like this:
You try tox somewhere, don't love it (or don't see enough of a difference to stay consistent), so you stop.
Maybe you try filler once, or a skin treatment you saw online.
A few months later, you try something else.
Everything is disconnected. Over time, that actually costs you more, not just financially, but in results.
Injectables aren't meant to be one-off treatments. They work best as part of a bigger picture: a plan that considers your facial structure, your goals, and how everything works together over time.
Without a clear plan, you end up:
Under-treating some areas. Concerns that need attention get skipped.
Over-treating others. One area gets all the focus, which can throw off your [facial balance](link to facial balancing post).
Not maintaining results long enough to see their full benefit. Many treatments, like tox and [collagen biostimulators](link to Sculptra vs. filler post), work best with consistency over time.
The difference isn't doing more. It's doing things with intention.
When you have a plan, treatments build on each other, and you're not constantly starting over. Your results stay consistent, intentional, and built to last.
Every plan is different, but here's an example of how treatments might fit together over a year:
Treatment | Typical timing | What it does |
|---|---|---|
Tox | About every 3 to 4 months | Softens lines and keeps them from deepening |
Filler | As needed, often once a year or less | Restores structure and balance |
Collagen biostimulators | A series to start, then yearly maintenance | Builds firmness and skin quality |
Microneedling + PRF | A series to start, then periodic refreshes | Improves texture, tone, and glow |
Medical-grade skincare | Every day | Protects and extends your results |
Your plan is built around your face, your goals, and your timeline, so it may look very different from this example.
This is exactly what I focus on with my patients: a long-term approach that makes sense for your face and your goals.
I offer a long-term treatment plan to every patient who sits in my chair. I talk through your goals, your fears, and your expectations, and then I build a custom plan with you that works for your face and your budget.
So instead of a one-off appointment, you get a plan that keeps your results consistent, intentional, and built to last.
No. A plan spreads treatments out over time based on your priorities and budget. Many people start with one or two treatments and add others gradually.
Most people get tox about every three to four months to keep results consistent.
It depends on the area and the product. Many fillers last six months to over a year, so touch-ups are usually much less frequent than tox.
Often it's the opposite. A plan avoids wasted treatments and starting over, so your investment goes further.
Your plan can change too. I'll revisit it with you at your appointments and adjust as needed.
If you're ready to stop starting over and build results that last, book a consultation. I'll create a custom long-term plan for your face, your goals, and your budget.
I see clients from Bluffdale, Riverton, Herriman, Draper, South Jordan, Saratoga Springs, Lehi, and across the south Salt Lake Valley.
