Semaglutide
Semaglutide is our weight loss therapy of choice at 29 Aesthetics. This is a prescription injectable medication used alongside diet and exercise to assist in weight loss. It is used primarily in adults who are obese or are overweight and have a medical condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes due to their weight. It belongs to the class of drugs called GLP-1 receptor agonists, which work to lower blood sugar levels and help manage diabetes.
How does it work? Semaglutide mimics the action of the GLP-1 hormone, which is responsible for stimulating insulin production, reducing glucagon secretion, and slowing down gastric emptying. Semaglutide works by controlling blood sugar, slowing the movement of food through the gut, and decreasing appetite. These effects help regulate blood sugar levels and promote weight loss.
*Patients must have BMI over 27 to initiate therapy..

Consultation and Treatment
Our Semaglutide treatments are available through a Weight Loss Program.
Membership includes an initial consultation that consists of a thorough health history and exam, personalized treatment plan with diet and exercise tips/goals, and monthly check-ins to track progress, make adjustments, and refill prescriptions.
The initial consultation fee is $450. This includes the first office visit and the fee for the first vial of Semaglutide. After the first vial of medication, price varies depending on the dose of medication needed for treatment.
Consultation
A consultation is required for all clients prior to beginning treatment. This consultation will consist of a health history and physical exam, review of labs (or drawing labs as needed), and evaluation of your current nutrition and exercise habits. This will help determine whether you are a qualifying candidate for Semaglutide therapy.
Treatment
If you qualify for treatment, we will create a customized treatment plan including nutrition and exercise tips/goals. Injection training will be provided so you will be prepared to perform weekly injections from the comfort of your home. Your medication will be shipped directly to your door from our compounding pharmacy.
Follow-Up
Every 4 weeks, we will meet virtually to evaluate your progress and any side effects, make appropriate adjustments to the treatment plan, and refill the prescription.

How long does treatment last?
Most clients can expect to be on Semaglutide therapy for 6-24 months with a minimum of 4 months.
How much weight will I lose?
On average, most people lose 10-15% of their body weight at the completion of therapy. Our goal is 1-2 pounds of weight loss per week.
Will I lose weight quickly?
Expect a steady loss of 1-2 pounds per week. Losing weight slowly allows patients to make gradual, sustainable changes to their diet and physical activity. Rapid weight loss is avoided because it can involve extreme or unsustainable practices, which are difficult to maintain over the long term. Rapid weight loss can also sometimes lead to a loss of muscle mass instead of fat.
Are results temporary?
Therapy aims to achieve sustainable lifestyle changes, better overall health, and a higher likelihood of maintaining weight loss in the long run. Some patients may require a maintenance dose over a longer period of time.
How do I stop the medication?
Once you’ve reached your goal weight, I recommend 3-6 months of maintenance dosing and then a taper down of medication. Allowing your body to get used to being a new weight is key in helping you sustain your new weight. Our goal is to avoid the yo-yo effect.
