One of the biggest mistakes I see people make with injectables? Treating features in isolation instead of treating the whole face for harmony.
I'm Amy Hawkins, FNP-C, the injector behind 29 Aesthetics in Bluffdale, Utah. Here's what I mean, and why looking at your whole face is the key to results that look natural.
Most people start their aesthetics journey with one or two insecurities. They come in for a consultation, point to something in the mirror, like their lips or their forehead lines, and ask their injector to fix just that one thing.
There's nothing wrong with having one or two small things you'd like to tweak. I believe in a natural approach to aesthetics.
But focusing on just one area can sometimes throw off the balance of your face as a whole. Think of it like adjusting the volume on just one speaker in a stereo system. When one part gets louder while the rest stays the same, it can feel a little off.
The same thing happens with your face. Fuller lips without support in the chin or cheeks, or a smooth forehead next to tired-looking eyes, can make one feature stand out instead of blend in.
Facial balancing means looking at your whole face, not just one feature, and making subtle improvements that work together. Instead of chasing one spot, the goal is harmony: proportions that fit your face, with every area looking like it belongs.
It might seem counterintuitive that getting more treatments can lead to a more natural look, but it's true. When small improvements are spread across multiple areas, everything blends together seamlessly. Instead of one feature standing out, your face looks balanced, refreshed, and totally you, just the best version.
This approach also helps avoid overdoing any one spot, which is often what makes injectables look obvious. The result feels effortless and authentic.
A whole-face approach doesn't mean treating everything in one appointment. I'll create a plan with you that fits your goals, your budget, and your comfort level, and you can build on it over time.
If you've already started with tox or lip filler, other treatments can enhance those results and keep your whole face looking its best.
A little bit of filler in the right areas can define contours, restore balance, and add volume and plumpness. Common areas include the cheeks, chin, jawline, lips, and under-eyes.
Whether it's Botox, Xeomin, Dysport, Letybo, or Jeuveau, tox softens fine lines and can create a subtle lifted appearance. It's often the starting point that other treatments build on.
Sculptra and hyperdilute Radiesse stimulate your body's own collagen production. They improve firmness and skin quality gradually, which makes them a great foundation for natural-looking results.
Combining PRF (platelet-rich fibrin, made from your own blood) with microneedling can:
Boost your skin's natural healing and collagen production
Improve texture, tone, and overall radiance
Reduce the appearance of fine lines, scars, and pigmentation
Support long-lasting, natural-looking skin rejuvenation
No. The opposite is usually true. Spreading subtle changes across several areas avoids overfilling any one spot, which is what tends to look unnatural.
Often, yes. Many people do both in one visit. During your consultation, I'll recommend the timing that makes the most sense for your treatment plan.
Tox relaxes the muscles that cause expression lines. Filler adds volume and structure to areas that have lost it. They work in different ways, which is why they complement each other so well.
Start with a consultation. That's where I'll look at your whole face, talk through what bothers you most, and recommend a plan that fits your goals.
If you're curious about trying something new at your next appointment, or you're just getting started, I'd love to help you build a plan for balanced, natural-looking results.
I see clients from Bluffdale, Riverton, Herriman, Draper, South Jordan, Saratoga Springs, Lehi, and across the south Salt Lake Valley.
